The goal is to improve security for journalists, human rights defenders, and community leaders. It will also support exchanges among the Ombuds Institutions of Colombia, Honduras, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. Participants discussed police-media relations, press freedom, and the risks faced by journalists reporting on the security sector in the region. The new multi-year programme builds on previous work, and is generously funded by Germany.
